- Alkoomi named a Red 5 star winery in the 2011 edition of James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion.

Mike Zittritsch, team member of Fine Wine Wholesalers - Alkoomi's Western Australia's distributors, recently entered a tasting note, for the Alkoomi Frankland River 2009 Semillon Sauvignon blanc, into a competiton on James Halliday's Wine Companion website and his entry was selected as the best of all entries.
James said: "...I think it's interesting and covers both the winemaking background
and consequent flavour of the wine very well."
Mike's entry reads:
"Alkoomi 2009 Frankland River Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
The first release of Alkoomi's Frankland River Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
is a refreshing spin on what is fast becoming a homogenised brand of
Western Australian SSBs. It's a crisp, well made wine that drinks more
like a Bordeaux white than a Margaret River white.
The wine displays pure citrus and lemon-lime fruit characters with a
fine layer of minerality and a pleasing, rounded texture. Partial
barrel fermentation of both varieties has given the wine a complexity
not often found amongst its peers, and certainly not at this price."

The soon to be released Alkoomi 2008 Shiraz Viognier has been awarded 4.5 stars in the latest Winestate "New Releases" tasting.
